Baseball Postseason Breakdown Series: Day II

NORMAN, Okla. -- Sooners Illustrated now presents the second part of the seven-day series with this year's player of the year.

Pitcher Michael Rocha

It's hard to argue with the results Rocha produced on the hill in 2011. In 16 appearances, he sizzled to a 10-3 record with a 1.75 ERA. That included five complete games, one of which was a shutout. He had nearly a five-to-one strikeout-to-walk ratio, fanning 82 to just 17 base on balls in 113 innings pitched. And batters managed just a .218 average against him, as he recorded a .938 WHIP throughout the season.

The numbers weren't quite as impressive in conference play, but impressive nonetheless. Rocha went 5-3 in nine appearances with a 2.08 ERA and three of those five complete games. He had 51 strikeouts to just 11 walks. And batters hit .238 against him, as he managed a 1.046 WHIP in those games.

Rocha was the clear ace throughout the year and a major reason OU won 40 games for the third season in a row.
