May 1, 2011--OU 5, Texas 2
With the Sooners down in the dumps after a pair of losses and a series defeat at the hands of the Texas Longhorns for the 13th straight season, they had to fight in game three to salvage the series. And they did just that. The Sooners scored a pair of runs in the third and sixth innings and added one more in the seventh to defeat the Longhorns 5-2 in the series finale, showing amazing resiliency in a three-game set that otherwise would have been a sweep. At the time, it ended a 7-7 stretch and jumpstarted a nine-game winning streak before the Sooners slumped to a 2-6 finish at the end of the year. OU seemed to regain its confidence on its way to beating Arkansas-Little Rock and sweeping Kansas and non-conference foe New Mexico after that huge victory.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's version of the postseason breakdown series.
