Will It Be Football or Basketball for Ateman?

Earlier this week we brought you an article on 2013 Wylie East wide receiver, Quan Jones. This time around we bring you an interview with Wylie East's other 2013 wide receiver, Marcell Ateman. Check inside for more.

The other bright spot for the Wylie East Raiders next season is Marcell Ateman, a 6-foot-5 and 190-pound wide receiver. Ateman and Jones may make up the best one-two punch in the state of Texas at the receiver position next season. The two will most likely cause plenty of head-aches next year for opposing defensive coordinators.

Ateman is a talented receiver that is also not too shabby on the hardwood. Last season Ateman averaged 17-points a game playing small forward and shooting guard. St. Johns has already been showing him interest.

Ateman's future will be playing either basketball or football. The two-sport star says he will not be playing both at the next level. The number one thing Ateman will be looking at to decide on what he will do will be based on what offers he has for each sport.

"I'm going to choose eventually," Ateman stated about which sport he will play.

At this moment in time football is looking like the better choice for Ateman who already holds offers from Arizona and Tennessee. Other programs showing interest so far have been BYU and Virginia.

Recently, Ateman attended the Sooners summer camp with his teammate, Jones. Ateman wanted to make sure his first impression on the Sooners was a good one by giving his all while in Norman.

"I thought it was real good," Ateman said about the Sooners camp. "I just went out there and tried my hardest and just tried to put my first impression because it was my first impression on them. So I just tried to give a hundred and ten percent."

While in Norman, Ateman got the chance to take a tour of the Sooner campus and came away impressed by what he saw.

"I thought it was real nice," Ateman stated about the Sooners campus. "I haven't got to see a lot of campuses but I thought that campus was pretty nice. They got a lot of new stuff in there. I liked the locker rooms."

Offensive coordinator, Josh Heupel talked with Ateman while at the camp and let him know he will be keeping his eye on him moving forward.

"He just said he is going to keep looking at me in the future if I get better," Ateman stated.

Ateman has interest in the Sooners and says that they are in good contact with him. One school that would also have a great chance to land Ateman should they decide to offer would be the Texas Longhorns.

"Being from Texas, I grew up loving Texas so that was my school right there," Ateman said when asked if he had a favorite school he grew up watching.

Ateman will also be attending the Tennessee camp on July the 18th with Jones.
