Ranking the Most Important on Offense: No. 9

Sooners Illustrated continues on with this year's offensive countdown at 9 (b.).

No. 9 (b.):

Player: Brandon Williams

Position: Running back

The rundown: Williams is not on the two-deep, so why is he not only on the countdown but inside the Top 10? He's that good and has the ability to take this running back corps to the next level. After coming to OU at mid-semester, the 6-foot, 192-pound back from Brookshire Royal High School only had 13 yards on seven carries in the Spring Game, but it's the comments from his teammates and his obvious upside that suggest how good this guy could be.

Expectations for 2011: He'll be in the discussion throughout the year for Newcomer of the Year in the Big 12 Conference. That means expect him to put some of his explosiveness on display this season. He's an exciting back, as evidenced by his more than 2,400 yards and 33 touchdowns on the ground along with 144 receiving yards and two touchdown catches as a senior in 2010. Williams will be in the rotation despite being unlisted on the first depth chart.
