Ranking the Most Important on Offense: No. 9

Sooners Illustrated rolls on closer to No. 1 in this year's offensive countdown with 9 (a.)

No. 9 (a.):

Player: Roy Finch

Position: Running back

The rundown: It's been a bit of a long road to recovery for the 5-foot-7, 166-pound back from Niceville, Fla. He first suffered a stress fracture prior to last season that kept him out for the first five games, and after he returned, Finch re-aggravated it right before the bowl game. Still, he was second on the team with 398 rushing yards and had a pair of rushing touchdowns to go along with that total in 2010.

Expectations for 2011: Now, it's just time for Finch to completely regain his health. Apparently there are still some concerns, as both Brennan Clay and Jonathan Miller are listed ahead of him on the depth chart, although Finch was the clear No. 2 back last season. He admitted to taking it slow this spring in his rehabs in an effort to get back to full strength. But something else could be going on since he hasn't made it back onto the two-deep. More than likely, though, it's a situation where Finch wasn't full strength coming out of spring, and Miller, who had a very productive spring, was. Head coach Bob Stoops is huge on competition, and this sparks competition between the two and the rest of the group. There's ample reason to believe Finch will be healthy by the first game, and his role will be large if he is, indeed, healthy.
