RECRUITING: Dallas DE says OU is his favorite

One of the Lone Star State's top 100 players and defensive ends has high marks for the Sooners

MICAH HOWETH, DE, 6'3, 240, 4.7, DALLAS (WHITE HS), TEXAS:

Howeth is one of the top defensive line prospects in Texas and collegiate teams are recruiting him both as a defensive end and a defensive tackle. Howeth goes into his senior year as a three-year starter at defensive end and fullback at White High School. He finished with over 100 tackles and five sacks last season.

"I will probably play either linebacker or defensive end in college," said Howeth. "I love being on the line of scrimmage and I love attacking the line of scrimmage and chasing down the quarterback."

Howeth can bench 300 pounds, squats 500 and he starts in hoops. Micah did not go to any football camps last summer, but this Saturday he goes to the NIKE camp at College Station and he plans to attend the Oklahoma camp this summer. Howeth has been offered by 20 schools at this point, but he has his favorites.

"I like Ohio State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Penn State and Miami would be my top schools at this point," said Howeth. "Oklahoma is my favorite school because their tradition is unbeatable and I really like the atmosphere in Norman. I have been up there for games before and I have always really enjoyed myself."

Howeth has already qualified.
