Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops' Florida connection has paid off again as the Sooners expect to pick up official commitment next Monday from Jacksonville, Fla. safety Brett Bowers.
Bowers, who visited Norman for Oklahoma's Red/White game on April 12, told Spencer Cagle of VT.Insider.com that he intends to verbal to Oklahoma.
"Coach Stoops is coming to practice Monday and I'll probably make a decision then," Bowers said in an interview with VTInsider.com. "It'll be Oklahoma."
"You can't beat the coaching staff," Bowers said. "The Stoops' are awesome and I've got family there - can't beat that. It felt like home there, the best place."
Bowers also visited Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Arkansas.
"It was awesome and everything was great, especially how the coaches treated me," said Bowers on April 15 following his visit to Norman. "I liked it when I walked into the locker room and they had a locker with my name on the plaque and then a jersey with my name on it."
"When I watched film with Coach (Mike) Stoops we watched the Rose Bowl and I saw how they defended the deep ball," Bowers continued. "One thing I like when I was talking to Coach (Bob) Stoops is that he compared me Todd Johnson, his safety at Florida and he was great player. He was a stud."
