Sampsons' Sooners getting early hype for 2003-04

Midnight Madness won't be taking place around the nation for another five months, but CBS Sportsline already ranks Oklahoma 17th in their pre-summer Top 25 for the upcoming season

The sting from Oklahoma's Elite Eight loss to Syracuse hasn't completely worn off yet, but it's never too early to start thinking about next year.

And with Midnight Madness still five months away, CBS Sportsline college hoops guru and Senior Writer Dan Wetzel released his pre-summer Top 25 earlier this week on with the Sooners checking in at No. 17.

"The senior core is gone, but Kelvin Sampson is reaping the recruiting rewards from two big-time seasons," Wetzel wrote.

"Sophomores Kevin Bookout and De'Angelo Alexander are ready to step up, Jabahri Brown is back and a tremendous four-man recruiting class is coming in. Wait until they get a look at 5-7 water bug point guard Andrew Lavender in Norman. He is a fun, fun player."
