RECRUITING: Ohio LB still high on OU

Huber Heights, Ohio LB Marcus Freeman talks about his summer plans and his interest in Oklahoma

JH: What are your plans for this summer?

MF: "I am competing in track at the moment and I lift weights every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the team. This past week I threw the shot, discus and ran on the 4X100 relay (second leg/10.7). I finished third in the shot and could only throw the discus once because I had to go run. It was a pretty good day for me, but not a great one."

JH: Have you taken any unofficial visits?

MF: "I took an unofficial visit to Michigan and also went to the Nike camp in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It was pretty nice and Coach (Lloyd) Carr is a nice coach. The coaching staff was great at Michigan and I had a nice overall visit and really enjoyed the facilities at Michigan."

JH: Are you planning to go to a lot of summer camps?

MF: "I am not necessarily stressing on going to camps, but it is more that I want to go to several colleges and see their campus and see what they are like from a personal standpoint. I want get to some of my bigger schools, which are Oklahoma, LSU and Miami, but that is going to be kind of hard because of the air fares and everything. So, I may have to keep it local at schools around here like Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State and Maryland. I have been to Ohio State a number of times, but I might go back up there this spring."

JH: You are from Ohio, so most of us just assume you have a great interest in Ohio State. Is that safe to say or not?

MF: "Every schools is equal for me right now. Ohio State is familiar for me, but I am really keeping my options open because I might find that there are schools that are a better fit for me. Sure, I will compare schools and Ohio State will be one of the schools that I compare to, but I am keeping an open mind at the moment."

JH: What kind of interest do you have in Oklahoma?

MF: "Right now Oklahoma is not only in my top five, but in my top three. Oklahoma is a school that I have a great interest in and it is a football program that I think I could fit in at very well. I love the Oklahoma football team and I plan to take an official visit there. Coach Wilson came up here a couple of weeks ago and he was a great guy and talked to my coach a lot. Oklahoma just seems to have a lot to offer a player and Bob Stoops is a winning coach who seems to treat his players very well."
