NORMAN, Okla. — The first official Bowl Championship Series Standings in 2011 feature the Sooners at No. 3 behind top-ranked LSU and No. 2 Alabama.
OU, the No. 1 ranked team in the USA Today/Coaches' Poll, received a .9301 overall BCS average, while LSU and Alabama are separated by just three ten-thousandths at .9522 and .9519, respectively.
Oklahoma State (.8568) and Boise State (.8027) round out the Top Five, and Wisconsin, Clemson, Stanford, Arkansas and Oregon, in that order, complete the Top 10.
Along with the USA Today Poll, which is just one-third of the total BCS formula, the Sooners ranked third in the Harris Interactive and fourth in the computer polls.
OU received 2,684 points in the Harris, again behind just LSU (2,819) and Alabama (2,744), and a .8900 computer average, behind Oklahoma State (.9700), Alabama (.9500) and LSU (.9200).
The Big 12 has five teams inside the BCS Top 25, including No. 11 Kansas State, No. 17 Texas A&M and No. 24 Texas as well as OU and Oklahoma State.
