NORMAN, Okla. — For the second time in as many days, the Sooners have locked up a new commitment for the 2012 class, and again, it was some of tight ends/tackles coach Bruce Kittle's work that sealed the deal.
Kittle and the Sooners got in late on St. Edward High School tight end Sam Grant but just in time to secure a verbal from the talented three-star prospect out of Lakewood, Ohio.
He becomes the first OU commit from Ohio since offensive tackle Branndon Braxton back in 2004 and just the second in the Bob Stoops era.
Grant, previously committed to Boston College, narrowed his recent final four of Michigan, Arkansas, Boston College and Oklahoma down to just the Wolverines and Sooners in the last few days.
In the end, he chose the Crimson and Cream over the Maze and Blue.
Grant becomes the fourth tight end commit for this Sooner class, which also includes JUCO transfer Brannon Green, along with incoming freshmen Taylor McNamara (early enrollee) and Laith Harlow.
All four of those are three-stars, and Grant is the 45th ranked tight end among 2012 prospects.
