Signing as a Sooner: No. 17

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners did, in fact, steal one away from the Arkansas Razorbacks with the latest signee.

Signing Time: 10:22 a.m. Ranking: Four-star

Courtney Gardner (WR—6'3"/215): One look at this kid, and you'll see why the Sooner coaches are chomping at the bit for him to arrive on campus. Gardner, who runs a 4.4 40, possesses so much speed out of Sierra Junior College it's crazy. Get him in the open field on a route and no one's catching him. Throw in his big frame, and he can be killer. The Sooners may not have landed No. 1 receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, but they got more than a consolation prize in Gardner.

What he's coming into at the position: Could Gardner break into the starting lineup right away? You bet he could. Kenny Stills, Jaz Reynolds when he returns from his injury, Trey Franks and Kameel Jackson have all started for OU, but Gardner could join any of them next year. He's part of a ridiculous incoming class that also features Durron Neal, Sterling Shepard, Derrick Woods and Daniel Brooks.
