Sooners Fall in Big 12 Semis

The Sooners now await their seeding in the 2012 NCAA Tournament after falling 79-66 to the Texas A&M Aggies Friday afternoon in the Big 12 Tourney Semifinals at Municipal Auditorium.

They held a 13-9 lead early in the game, but the Aggies went on a run and never let off the gas.

Texas A&M led 40-35 at halftime and just extended it as the second half went on, leading by as much as 18 with 2:52 remaining.

Guard Whitney Hand, who has scored in double figures in 11 consecutive games and snatched five or more rebounds in the last 13 games, both the longest such streaks of her career, led the way for OU with 24 points and eight boards.

But it just wasn't enough, as Texas A&M's four-headed scoring monster of Kelsey Bone, Skylar Collins, Alexia Standish and Sydney Carter, who managed 16, 15, 13 and 10, respectively, was simply too much.

Guards Aaryn Ellenberg and Sharane Campbell each also scored in double figures for OU, with 13 and 11, respectively.

OU is now just 2-4 all-time against Texas A&M in the Big 12 Tournament and the Aggies have knocked them out of it for four straight years, including in the semifinals in 2009, 2011 and 2012 and the championship in 2011.

The Sooners, who are hosting a regional, will play at home, but their opponent is yet to be determined and will be Monday.
