Two Women's Hoops Players Transferring

NORMAN, Okla. — A pair of Sooner forwards are transferring at the end of the spring semester, head coach Sherri Coale announced over the weekend.

Reserve sophomore Jacqueline Jeffcoat and freshman Katherine Zander will be heading elsewhere and granted unconditional releases to do so.

"Jac and Katherine will have the opportunity to find a place where they can have more playing time," Coale said. "We wish them the best in their future endeavors."

The two averaged just a combined 5.5 minutes per game, as Zander managed just 0.7 points per game and Jeffcoat netted 0.6.

In fact, Jeffcoat, who played in 21 games throughout her OU career, scored only five points while playing in only eight this season, and Zander scored four in six outings.

To aid the loss of these two post players, forward Lyndsey Cloman returns from her torn ACL, as does guard Jasmine Hartman.

Both missed the entire 2011-12 season.

Forwards Joanna McFarland and Kaylon Williams and center Nicole Griffin return as active players from this year.

The Sooners also have a pair of highly-rated high school senior guards joining the troops.

WBCA All-American Nicole Kornet of Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian, the same school current guard Whitney Hand hails from, and Iowa's Gatorade Player of the Year Maddie Manning of Ankeny are set to arrive next fall.
