Sooners' draft: By the numbers

NORMAN, Okla. — Sooners Illustrated examines how the 2012 NFL Draft shook out for OU with a numbers crunch.

7--Sooners selected in the draft. It ties how many OU sent pro back in 2009 and is tied for second in the Bob Stoops era to just 2005, when there were 10 Sooner selections.

75--Times out of 77 years OU has had at least one draft pick since its inception back in 1936. The Sooners are first in the country in that category, with Notre Dame and USC trailing narrowly at 74 and 72 years, respectively.

357--OU players all-time drafted, including this year's seven. That mark puts the Sooner program fourth amongst all schools.

3--Sooners selected by the Detroit Lions. Wide receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end/linebacker Ronnell Lewis and linebacker Travis Lewis all went there.

59--Players drafted during the Stoops era. Though Broyles was the highest selection this year in the second round, he has produced 12 first-rounders.

6--National Football Conference (NFC) selections. Offensive tackle Donald Stephenson, drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs, was the only American Football Conference (AFC) pick.
