Player: Daryl Williams
Hometown: Lake Dallas, Texas
Class: Redshirt sophomore
Height & Weight: 6-foot-6, 313 pounds
Likely position on fall depth chart: Starting right tackle
The rundown: He was poised to be a regular starter as a redshirt freshman last year and did in the season-opener against Tulsa but suffered a high ankle sprain in that contest which took him out of that potential opportunity. Still, he saw action in nine games as a reserve and came into spring ball healthy and ready to go. Williams won the starting spot heading out of spring, and it's his to lose at right tackle as fall camp nears.
Expectations for 2012: All-Big 12 honors aren't out of the question if Williams puts together a really nice year. He'll be a very important piece of OU's offensive line and will start along with the other four up front, including left tackle Lane Johnson, left guard Gabe Ikard, center Ben Habern and right guard Tyler Evans. Williams came out of high school as a four-star recruit and the No. 19 offensive tackle and has yet to really put all that together. This year will be the one where he finally makes that big jump into an impactful offensive lineman.
