Meeting the team: offensive player No. 17

NORMAN, Okla. — Sooners Illustrated now presents the 17th day getting you acquainted with the new team.

Player: Trey Millard

Hometown: Columbia, Mo.

Class: Junior

Height & Weight: 6-foot-2, 249 pounds

Likely position on fall depth chart: Starting fullback

The rundown: Millard returns coming off an All-Big 12 first team selection season in which he blocked well and also rushed for 169 yards on 24 carries. He busted loose for a career-long 61-yard rush that resulted in one of his two touchdown runs in a contest against Kansas State. Millard also tallied a touchdown reception for his three total scores on the season. He averaged seven yards per carry, while netting nearly 10 yards per reception.

Expectations for 2012: The Sooners have yet to use him as extensively as many believe they should, and this is the year where they will. Millard will get more touches than the previous few seasons, and it should open up a lot of other options offensively. Look for Millard as the starter to produce more than either of his first two seasons. And look for him to again rack in All-Big 12 honors and be a pivotal part of this offense.
