News and notes on Oklahoma's prospects from the first two days at the Nike basketball camp in Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS, IND — Oklahoma is apparently one of the favorites for combo forward Charles Thomas (6-7, 205) from Jackson, MS. Thomas has been impressive during the first two days at Nike and listed Oklahoma and Florida State as his leaders. Thomas (pictured above) visited OU unofficially during the weekend of the Texas basketball game last March.

Below is what TheInsiders.com Recruiting basketball recruiting guru Dave Telep had to say about Thomas at Nike.

"The high school version of Charles Oakley. He's a "manimal" (not sure if that's a word) in the first session of games. He's simply a junkyard dog guy who battles, fights and claws for everything. Plus, his perimeter touch is reliable."

"Florida State skipper Leonard Hamilton was front and center for Charles Thomas. Now, yesterday Thomas told us FSU and Oklahoma were the two to beat but we keep hearing not to discount Mississippi; Rod Barnes was there today."

Telep from Tuesday...

"Charles Thomas gave us a school list that consisted of just two: Oklahoma and Florida State. He's got his reasons for liking both. "I've seen the facilities [at Oklahoma]," Thomas said. "Wow! They were building things left and right." As for FSU, Leonard Hamilton coached his cousin Mario Bland in college."

Midwest City power forward Darnell Jackson (6-8, 230) is playing well at Nike and told Telep that he has liked Oklahoma since he was a little kid, but then listed Arizona, Kansas, Purdue, Illinois, New Mexico and the Sooners as his latest list.

Kansas has yet to offer Jackson, but Telep reports that KU head Coach Bill Self was seen sitting front and center to watch Jackson play on Tuesday. Kansas has been rumored to be a major player for Jackson since he visited Lawrence with signee J.R. Giddens for the Jayhawks' Midnight Madness practice last October.
