Jones adds another watch to preseason resume

NORMAN, Okla. — Quarterback Landry Jones has made his team-leading fourth preseason watch list, getting named to the Manning Award watch list Friday afternoon.

He adds that to mentions from the Maxwell, Davey O'Brien and Walter Camp Award lists.

Jones, who finished with 4,463 passing yards and 29 touchdowns in 2011 and boasts an NCAA leading 12,379 career passing yards and 93 career touchdowns, was one of just three finalists for the award last season to return.

He enters the season tied with current OU running backs coach Cale Gundy (1990-93) for the most career starts by a quarterback at 37 and is just three wins away from tying Steve Davis (1973-75) for the program career wins record of 32 victories.

The Artesia, N.M., product was a three-time Manning Award Star of the Week in 2011, including the week after he threw for a school record 505 yards at Kansas State.

This year's winner will be announced after the bowl season in January and will be honored at a ceremony in New Orleans.
