NORMAN, Okla. — Head coach Bob Stoops and his Sooners have been waiting since mid-May to get the news they got Thursday evening: they'll have another available wide receiver to replace the three suspended indefinitely late last spring.

East Mississippi Junior College transfer LaColtan Bester is enrolled at OU, according to university records, and eligible for the 2012 season based on fulfilling his academic requirements for JUCO graduation.

He joins a receiving corps that features veteran Kenny Stills and expected true freshman sensation Trey Metoyer, plus incoming freshmen Durron Neal and Sterling Shepard, among others.

The Sooners are also still waiting on Courtney Gardner, who must pass his classes in order to join the club.

OU went after Bester in large part because Jaz Reynolds, Trey Franks and Kameel Jackson violated team rules and were subsequently suspended for an unspecified time period.

None of the three are currently listed on the roster, making Bester's presence all the more crucial.

He'll arrive as a junior and have two years of eligibility after finishing his second of two seasons at East Mississippi with 76 catches for 1,042 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
