Meeting the team: defensive player No. 19

NORMAN, Okla. — Sooners Illustrated is now in the final week getting you acquainted with the defense with this latest player.

Player: Gabe Lynn

Hometown: Tulsa, Okla.

Class: Redshirt junior

Height & Weight: 6-foot, 199 pounds

Likely position on fall depth chart: Backup corner

The rundown: Lynn is moving into his fourth season as a Sooner after starting a pair of games in 2011. He played in a total of 10 contests overall. In those 10 contests, the former Jenks High School corner recorded 22 tackles, including two for loss and a pair of pass breakups. Seven of his stops came in a career-high performance against Texas Tech. After redshirting his first year in 2009, Lynn has saw action now in 17 games.

Expectations for 2012: He'll be right in the rotation for a spot in defensive coordinator Mike Stoops' five-defensive back set. But there are a number of talented corners he'll likely be behind to start things off, including Aaron Colvin, Demontre Hurst and Lamar Harris, who shined during spring ball. Still, Lynn is a player that could really make an impact, especially from a depth stand point in 2012.
