Sooner hoops slate is complete

NORMAN, Okla. — OU's conference schedule was finalized the other day, and now the entire schedule is finalized, as head coach Lon Kruger and athletic director Joe Castiglione announced the program's 14-game non-conference menu Friday.

It features seven home games, including five in the regular season, plus three nationally televised games at the Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla., an All-College Classic matchup in Oklahoma City against former Big 12 brethren Texas A&M and a couple of road contests at Oral Roberts and and Arkansas.

The Sooners open things up with a pair of exhibition games Nov. 2 and 7 against Washburn and Central Oklahoma, respectively.

After that they open up the regular season against Louisiana Monroe Nov. 11.

Then, it's off to Arlington to face Texas-Arlington Nov. 16 before heading to the Old Spice Classic for contests against UTEP, Clemson/Gonzaga and another one to be determined on Nov. 22-25.

From there, the Sooners head to Oral Roberts for a Nov. 28 showdown with the Golden Eagles.

OU returns home Nov. 30 to face Northwestern State before hitting the road to Arkansas Dec. 4.

An 11-day break during Finals Week precedes the All-College Classic matchup against the Aggies Dec. 15.

The Sooners rap up the non-conference slate with three home games against Stephen F. Austin, Ohio and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Dec. 18, 29 and 31, respectively.

Combining it with the conference schedule, OU will play 14 of its 15 contests against 2012 NCAA Tournament teams.

1988 Final Four Team reunion took place Friday night:

For the second consecutive year, Kruger welcomed back OU basketball alumni, and this year the event featured a special ceremony honoring the 1988 team that lost in the National Championship Game led by head coach Billy Tubbs.

Players recalled their fondest memories of the season, while Tubbs said he knew before the season that they would be something special.

Sitting outside of the Top 25, OU raced to a 34-5 overall record before falling to Big 12 rival Kansas in the Title Game.
