HOOPS RECRUITING: Thomas has a leader

We caught up with top 50 power forward Charles Thomas aka the 'manimal' to get the lowdown on his recruitment a week after his impressive performance at the Nike summer hoops camp

Thomas has emerged as one of the top power forward's in the country and his physical play reminds many of NBA veteran Charles Oakley. Thomas goes into his senior year as a three-year starter who averaged 14 ppg and 10 rpg after transferring from Calloway High School. As a sophomore Thomas averaged 17 ppg and 8 rpg.

"I am described as a 'manimal', which is a half man and half animal," said Thomas. "I don't think I can put it any better way, because I just like to get after it on the court."

Thomas has been offered by Oklahoma, UConn, Florida State and LSU, and he feels many more are on the way.

"I am kind of leaning towards OU right now," said Thomas. "I went to Oklahoma's camp and their facilities are outstanding. They actually have a boys practice gym and a girls practice gym in the same facility. Everything is first class about OU and Coach (Kelvin) Sampson and his staff is outstanding. Florida State is probably second right now."

At the moment Thomas is looking to sign during the early signing period.
