Sooners fall spot in AP, rise one in Coaches

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners moved a spot in each poll over their second bye week, dropping to No. 17 in the AP but moving up one in the USA Today/Coaches Poll to No. 14.

The Alabama Crimson Tide remain No. 1 but are now the unanimous recipient in the AP, standing ahead of No. 2 Oregon, No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Georgia.

South Carolina, Kansas State, West Virginia, Notre Dame and Florida round out the Top 10, respectively.

There are five total Big 12 teams, including No. 11 Texas and No. 15 TCU along with the Sooners, the lowest ranked of the five.

The Coaches Poll is similar at the top, but with a few shakeups.

Alabama, Oregon, LSU, Florida State and Georgia headline the top five, in that order.

But there are three Big 12 teams--West Virginia, Kansas State and Texas--sandwiched around No. 6 South Carolina and No. 10 Notre Dame to cap off the rest of the Top 10.

At No. 13, TCU is just ahead of OU, while Texas Tech also checks in this poll at No. 24 to become the sixth Big 12 team.

That means next weekend's 2:30 p.m. contest at Jones AT&T Stadium will be a ranked matchup between the Sooners and Red Raiders.
