RECRUITING: OU offers Ft. Worth CB

Ft. Worth, Texas cornerback D.J. Davis likes what he hears about Oklahoma and Head Coach Bob Stoops

D.J. DAVIS, DB, 6'0, 188, 4.37, FT. WORTH, TEXAS (DUNBAR HS):

The more people watch D.J. Davis the more they like him. He is a fantastic athlete who can play on either side of the ball, but it looks like he will be a defensive back in college.

"I have played quarterback, free safety and running back at Dunbar, but I think I will be a defensive back in college," said Davis. "Defensive back is where I really like to play. I start at free safety, but if we are playing against a great receiver I move over to cornerback and match-up with him."

Davis picked off two passes on defense and expects to grab more this year. Davis went to Texas A&M this past weekend to meet Coach Franchione and the other assistants, and to take a look around. Davis can bench 285 pounds, squats 455 and he has a 38-inch vertical jump.

Davis has been offered by 15 schools at this time and he is still keeping an open mind.

"I keep thinking that I may get some schools to offer me that are not offering me at this time, so I am keeping my options open," said Davis. "I am thinking about Penn State, because they have been sending me letters since I was a freshman and everybody I talk to tells me that they have a great program. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have offered me and everybody is saying great things about Coach (Bob) Stoops and OU. Everybody tells me that OU is a factory for the League (NFL). Again, I am trying to keep an open mind and really have a number of schools that I am considering."
