Sooner trifecta

NORMAN, Okla. — The Sooners got not one, not two, but three commits on this fateful Wednesday.

First, former 2011 Texas defensive tackle commit Quincy Russell, now a JUCO player for Trinity Valley, pledged to the Crimson and Cream.

At 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, he's a current three-star and former four-star prospect who becomes the second interior defensive lineman commit in the last five days.

Then, things got busy on the offensive side of the ball, specifically for tackles/tight ends coach Bruce Kittle.

Kittle landed the No. 43 tackle in the country, a three-star in Stratford HS's Christian Daimler.

He and the Sooners weren't finished at that point.

At 8 p.m. CT, Russell's teammate, offensive tackle Josiah St. John's selected the Sooners over Big 12 Conference mate Kansas.

He's also a three-star prospect.

So, what appeared to be a dire situation on the offensive line and defensive line just about a week ago has really turned for the better.

With the three commits, the Sooners are now firmly inside the Top 20 in the 2013 FOX Sports NEXT recruiting rankings.

In fact, they sit at No. 15 poised to pass 14th-ranked Nebraska, who they snatched Russell from, pending the update on St. John's commitment.

Stay tuned for more information about these commitments.
