Sooners strike twice in Lancaster

NORMAN, Okla. — If once wasn't enough for the Sooners today in Lancaster, twice should be adequate.

The Sooners have landed their second commitment of the day from the South Metroplex high school, this time locking up their second 2014 pledge in outside linebacker Vontre McQuinnie.

McQuinnie, recently offered the other day, gave his verbal on the spot during his ongoing junior day visit.

He's a talented 6-foot-1, 195-pound that could work at the linebacker position or shift back to safety depending on how the Sooners want to use him.

Earlier in the day, OU got back to its Lancaster connections with cornerback Dakota Austin's verbal and has now added another for the ensuing class.

Great names come to mind when thinking of Lancaster, including Demontre Hurst and Quentin Hayes.

Hayes, expected to have a big season next year, in 2010 was the last Sooner pledge from the town prior to Austin.
