Cyclones hammer Sooners

The Iowa State Cyclones authoritatively held serve on home court on Big Monday, defeating the Sooners 83-64 at Hilton Coliseum.

They extended their perfect run to 13-0 in the 2012-13 campaign in throttling OU virtually from start to finish.

The Sooners leaped out to an early 6-2 lead, but eight first half Iowa State 3-pointers took care of that, quickly turning that deficit into a 13-point halftime lead at 44-31.

Iowa State finished with 11 total triples in disposing of the Sooners, who lost consecutive games for the first time all season.

Despite holding edges in rebounding (42-33), second chance points (23-9) and bench scoring (38-25), the Sooners simply weren't able to overcome that perimeter onslaught.

ISU guard Will Clyburn, who hit one of those, led the way for the Cyclones with 19.

Guard Chris Babb—he hit four threes—and forward Melvin Ejim each added 12, and guard Tyrus McGee finished with 10.

Sooner forward Andrew Fitzgerald, who put together another nice game for the Sooners with his 5-of-10 performance, led the way with 12.

Guards Isaiah Cousins and Cameron Clark each poured in 10 for the visiting Sooners.

OU's (14-7, 5-4 Big 12) trek to get back on track doesn't get any easier, as it hosts No. 5 Kansas Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center.
