Sooners take down Red Raiders

The Sooners won in Lubbock for the first time since 2009, topping the Texas Tech Red Raiders 86-71 Wednesday night at United Spirit Arena to sweep the season series.

Guard Steven Pledger, as he's done so many times throughout his career, paced the Sooners with his sharp shooting, drilling 8-of-15 shots and six threes for a game-high 23.

Forward Romero Osby didn't finish far behind with his 21 points.

Meanwhile, forward Amath M'Baye, guard Sam Grooms and guard Cameron Clark added 15, 12 and 10 to round out five Sooners in double figures.

For Tech, three finished with that feat, including guard Josh Gray, who led the way with a game-high 26.

Forward Jaye Crockett and guard Jordan Tolbert netted 15 and 10, respectively.

OU led it basically from the get-go, rattling off the game's first seven points.

But Tech used a 9-0 run to come back and grab its first lead of the game at 15-14 just more than eight minutes in.

OU eventually seized a 32-27 halftime advantage in what was a tightly contested first half.

Midway through the second half, the Sooners finally built that to a double-digit lead, but Tech wouldn't go away for a bit until they iced it down the stretch with a 10-2 run.

The Sooners (17-8, 8-5 Big 12) get back to action with a chance to earn their first .500 or better conference season since 2008-09 when they play host to Baylor at 4 p.m. Saturday inside Lloyd Noble Center.
