Just days after center Gabe Ikard broke a finger in his right hand, the Sooners suffered a much more severe hit to their offensive line.
Guard Tyler Evans, back this spring off a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) early last fall camp, re-aggravated it and is out indefinitely.
"Tyler reinjured that same cruciate ligament," said OU head coach Bob Stoops after practice Thursday. "So, the expectation now is he's gonna have to have it redone. So yeah, very unfortunate for him."
Evans, who was expected to play a vital role on OU's offensive line in his return, now has to sit on the sidelines once again with his career likely over after the incident that occurred Tuesday.
He played in 38 games throughout his OU career and started 29 of those.
