Pendley, Ricketts grab Big 12 honors

NORMAN, Okla. — For the second week in a row, and fourth time this season, OU has swept the weekly conference honors, as sophomore Shelby Pendley was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, while senior pitcher Keilani Ricketts was chosen as Pitcher of the Week.

It marks the second time in the last three weeks and third time in her career Pendley has been named Player of the Week.

Ricketts, named the top pitcher in consecutive weeks, has been recognized five times this year and 16 times since stepping on campus at OU.

As a team, the Sooners have dominated the award totals this year, swiping 13 of the 24.

Pendley helped lead OU to yet another perfect week by hitting .615 with eight hits, including two doubles and three homers as well as 16 RBI and a 1.462 slugging percentage in four games.

In a 12-1 win at North Texas, she went 2-for-4, scoring a pair of runs and driving in four, most of which came on a three-run bomb.

She followed that up with a five RBI performance in a record-setting 24-1 win over Iowa State, as four of those five came on a grand slam.

Pendley was 3-for-4 with six RBI in Saturday's 8-0 win, managing an RBI in every single at bat and homering for a school record fourth straight contest.

In the finale, Pendley was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, including an RBI double.

Pendley has hit .556 with a .636 on base percentage and 1.500 slugging percentage over the last 12 games.

She's accumulated 10 homers and 31 RBI in that span.

Ricketts earned her fifth no-hitter of the year as part of a 2-0 week with a 0.64 ERA.

It started with a 12-1, six-inning win at North Texas where she struck out six in four innings, walking just one and allowing just three hits.

She struck out four and walked two over just two innings of work in Friday's blowout win.

Oklahoma continues play this weekend at Kansas. The series begins on Friday with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. and concludes with a noon contest on Saturday.
