Sooners snag second Union pledge

NORMAN, Okla. — If the well ain't dry, keep on digging.

That's the motto the Sooners used in snagging their latest commit and second tight end prospect from Union inJeffery Mead.

They secured the 6-foot-6, 175-pound 2014 product Saturday afternoon exactly a month after landing fellow Redskin Carson Meier.

Mead ranks as the 13th best tight end in the country, a three-star nationally.

He's the 10th member of the 2014 class and sixth on the offensive side of the ball.

With his size, though he's projected as a tight end, he could work on the outside as a taller receiver target as well.

That just depends on how much he bulks up once arriving on the collegiate stage.

With the commit, OU has moved up to No. 22 in the current FOX Sports NEXT recruiting rankings at 998 points.
