Ijalana gives his pledge

OU has its second tight end for the class after looking deep into the juco ranks to find the answer.

He knew this next month was going to be crazy so Pierce (Calif.) College tight end Isaac Ijalana is glad to end the insanity before it starts.

Heading into his official visit to Oklahoma this weekend, Ijalana didn't have an OU offer. Flying back to California, he has the offer and is OU's second tight end pledge for the Class of 2014.

It didn't take long for the Sooners and Ijalana to get acquainted. He said tight ends coach Jay Boulware first started being more aggressive with his recruitment a couple of weeks ago.

Ijalana was also considering schools such as Illinois and West Virginia, among others, but said earlier in the week an OU offer was going to be hard for him to pass up.

The Sooners already had one pledge from Tulsa (Okla.) Union tight end Carson Meier, but it was clear the Sooners wanted one more and wanted one who can make an immediate impact.

That answer appeared to be El Camino (Calif.) College prospect Jean Sifrin, but academic issues kept that from becoming official.

There are no academic issues with Ijalana, who is set to be a mid-year enrollee, which is exactly what the Sooners were looking for.
