Stoops mum on QB issue, possible suspensions

OU coach Bob Stoops offered little answers to pressing team matters regarding the quarterback situation and possible suspensions to Damien Williams, LaColtan Bester.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops would not confirm senior running back Damien Williams or senior wide receiver LaColtan Bester have been suspended for Saturday's game at Kansas State.

"No, I don't know where those reports come from," said Stoops on Wednesday evening. "Those kinds of things I always leave up to game time to announce after the game."

Reports surfaced Wednesday morning that both Williams and Bester have been suspended for the game against the Wildcats. If it's true, it would be the second suspension this season for Williams.

Stoops also wouldn't confirm anything regarding the quarterback situation and whether or not junior Blake Bell has been cleared to play.

"Really? That's all I've talked about," Stoops said before elaborating more. "He's visiting with the doctor Thursday to determine it."

Stoops said the meeting Thursday will be to determine whether or not he can play but would not disclose the nature of Bell's injury. It was reported Wednesday morning as well that redshirt freshman Trevor Knight was going to be the starting quarterback this week because Bell is recovering from a concussion.

"I'll have something to say after the game about what the doctor determined," Stoops said.
