Ijalana decommits from OU

The Sooners thought they were done with recruiting tight ends for the 2014 class. It appears that's not the case anymore.

Oklahoma is back in the market for a junior college tight end. Los Angeles Pierce tight end Isaac Ijalana, who committed to the Sooners two weeks ago, has confirmed he is no longer headed to OU.

Ijalana tweeted late Monday night, "After thinking about things, I feel like the best decision for me is to back away from my commitment to Oklahoma."

Ijalana confirmed the decommitment via text message but declined to comment further. It has been clear the Sooners are looking for two tight ends for the Class of 2014, and the search was thought to be over last month with the Ijalana pledge.

OU only started to show interest in Ijalana in the last month with the understanding that he would be a mid-year enrollee. There is no confirmation if that is no longer the case or if Ijalana simply wants to pursue other options that are available to him.

With Ijalana off the board for now, the Sooners are back to 17 commits for the class and one tight end in Tulsa (Okla.) Union three-star prospect Carson Meier.

The Sooners will certainly be searching for a juco tight end who can make an immediate impact in the next month.
