Ikard was named the Capital One Academic All-America of the Year and a member of the Academic All-America Team for Division I football as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Ikard is the first OU football player to ever earn the honor and is also the first to be named a three-time Academic All-American. He was first-team last year and second-team as a sophomore.
Ikard was voted as team captain for the second season in a row and has incredibly started 48 of 50 career game at either center or left guard.
He graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA in May with a bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies with a biological sciences theme and is pursuing a second undergraduate degree. He has already been named a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award winner that will give him an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at the institution and be nominated by the school's SID.
