In a 6-1 start, the Sooners had scored at least 40 points in 13 of the 14 halves. But defensively there have been some concerns, some big concerns.
Thursday doesn't signal anything significant for the Sooners on the defensive end, but it's a good start in a 78-56 victory against visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
The game, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., was moved to 2 p.m. because of weather concerns and admission was free for everybody. The 2,300 fans that braved the weather and came saw another balanced effort in leading OU to another victory and 7-1 beginning to Kruger's third season at OU.
Expected to be a vital contributor, a preseason injury has limited his effectiveness. Bennett started to show some signs of life with nine points and five blocks in just 14 minutes. The Sooners registered a season-high nine blocks.
OU also had 10 steals and forced 20 turnovers for TAMU-CC and limited the Islanders to 38 percent shooting from the field.
The Sooners are back in action Sunday afternoon against George Mason.
