Hayes set to decide Friday

The Sooners are looking for at least one more running back to fill out the class. DeChavon Hayes could be the answer.

Nobody is pressuring Lackawanna (Pa.) College running back DeChavon Hayes to make a decision, but he doesn't want to wait.

The early signing period for junior college prospects is next week, but Hayes will sign in February and graduate in May. Still, he's ready to end the process.

Hayes, a versatile threat as a running back, wide receiver and kick returner, is down to two schools – Oklahoma and Arizona State.

Hayes visited the Sooners last month and visited the Sun Devils two weeks ago. OU coaches had an in-home visit with Hayes on Sunday, while he said ASU is set to visit Thursday.

After that will be a lot of prayer and then a decision.

"I just want to get it all over with," Hayes said. "I want to be able to return and focus on school and just chill next semester."

Hayes visited Kansas in October, but it's obvious it's down to the Sooners and Sun Devils. Hayes said his plan is to announce his decision Friday morning.

Both schools are looking for at least one more running back, and Hayes' ability to be a game-changer with his speed and explosiveness explains why he has been so coveted.
