Paul gives his pledge to OU

OU's run on the trail continues as Sooners pick up second offensive lineman of the week and first offensive tackle for the class.

Throughout the recruiting cycle for Oklahoma and its 2014 class, the question has been when will the Sooners get an offensive tackle commit?

That questioned was answered Wednesday night when New Orleans St. Augustine offensive lineman Joseph Paul texted his commitment to the Sooners.

Paul, who is 6-foot-6 and 340 pounds, is a three-star prospect that most schools have been recruiting as an offensive guard. He said OU sees him as a right tackle prospect. He was also once committed to Florida back in the summer.

The Sooners had only gotten seriously involved with Paul in the last couple of weeks but most believed his commitment would come, just not this soon. Paul is taking an official visit to Norman next weekend along with his teammate, fellow OU offer defensive tackle Courtney Garnett.

It's possible the Sooners will get both from New Orleans St. Augustine, but for now, Garnett was just happy for his teammate.

Paul is OU's 21st commit for the class and the fourth commitment for the Sooners overall since earning an upset victory against Alabama in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The Sooners already have three interior offensive lineman, and Paul marks the first of what should be much more to come for OU regarding its tackles.
