OU's quarterback 'wish list'

The "wish list" is back and we come out of the gate talking about where OU stands with quarterbacks.

With all spring games in the books, things are starting to work themselves out on the recruiting trail. It's time to start looking more intently on Oklahoma's "wish list" for the Class of 2015.

SoonersIllustrated.com is going to examine the recruiting situation for the Sooners at every single position in the next week.

Here is an idea of where OU stands heading into May. The number in parentheses indicates the number of recruits OU is looking to sign at the position for the Class of 2015. The names in no way reflect OU's official board but are the best guesstimate of who OU is targeting.

QB (1)

Committed: None.

Favorite: None.

Next in line: Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage's Torrance Gibson. The lingering question is whether or not Gibson's visit to OU over spring break has made a lasting impression on him. It's clear some schools like Ohio State and Tennessee are going to be tough to beat, but we should get a better indicator of where OU and Gibson stand in the next couple of weeks.

Fort Bend (Texas) Marshall's J.W. Ketchum. The interest is there for the Sooners, that much we know. What remains to be seen is where exactly that interest is for Ketchum. One of the more polarizing prospects of the class, it's not 100 percent certain exactly where he can be classified. Quarterback, wide receiver and defensive back are all legit options.

On the radar: Norman (Okla.) North's John Kolar. OU has offered Gibson and Ketchum, but it hasn't extended the invitation to Kolar, an Oklahoma State commit. OU quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel has gotten to know Kolar better, and Kolar freely admitted he dreamed of being OU's starting quarterback. If the Sooners come his way during the spring, will anything change?
