With all spring games in the books, things are starting to work themselves out on the recruiting trail. It's time to start looking more intently on Oklahoma's "wish list" for the Class of 2015.
SoonersIllustrated.com is going to examine the recruiting situation for the Sooners at every single position in the next week.
Here is an idea of where OU stands heading into May. The number in parentheses indicates the number of recruits OU is looking to sign at the position for the Class of 2015. The names in no way reflect OU's official board but are the best guesstimate of who OU is targeting.
Favorite: Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge's Alex Ofodile. Talk about a recruit that understands the process. He is getting everything out of making his unofficial visits and hopes to have a decision by the end of the month. Good news for OU is the four-star prospect has made two trips to Norman, once for junior day and another time for a spring practice.
Next in line: Aledo (Texas) High's Ryan Newsome. After taking an unofficial to OU back in September, Newsome made two trips to Norman in March. It's clear the relationship he is building with wide receivers coach Jay Norvell means a lot to him. But there are so many suitors for Newsome, and he has been pretty open about seeing all schools he can.
Lufkin (Texas) Highs' Keke Coutee. Flying by under the radar right now but was one of OU's first offers at the position last summer as Norvell continues to target East Texas. A one-time Texas commit, it looks like the Sooners and Texas Tech are the two biggest options right now. OU would take Newsome or Coutee but incredibly tough to envision a scenario of taking both.
Pasadena (Calif.) Muir's Desean Holmes. OU's influence out west has that going in its favor, but west coast schools are going to do all they can to make sure Holmes doesn't get away. Holmes has talked highly of the Sooners despite not making a visit. Obviously a visit would go a long way toward OU being in better standing.
On the radar: Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro's Christian Kirk. You can almost lump in Cedar Hill (Texas) High's DaMarkus Lodge in this same spot. Two highly ranked receivers that are wanted by a who's who in college football. With Lodge being so close in proximity to OU, it might be a little more disappointing he hasn't really tried to see OU lately. Kirk wanted to for the spring game but stayed home and took the ACT.
