OU's cornerback 'wish list'

This 'wish list' looked a lot different last week. With two targets off the board, things coming into focus for OU at cornerback.

With all spring games in the books, things are starting to work themselves out on the recruiting trail. It's time to start looking more intently on Oklahoma's "wish list" for the Class of 2015.

SoonersIllustrated.com is going to examine the recruiting situation for the Sooners at every single position in the next week.

Here is an idea of where OU stands in May. The number in parentheses indicates the number of recruits OU is looking to sign at the position for the Class of 2015. The names in no way reflect OU's official board but are the best guesstimate of who OU is targeting.

CB (2-3)

Committed (1): Dallas South Oak Cliff's Jamile Johnson. Last month there were still some questions about how firm his commitment was toward OU. But Johnson has been pretty adamant and vocal right now that he believes OU is the right choice for him and for where he wants to be. Offered in October, his pledge came as a bit of a surprise on Valentine's Day.

Favorite: Pflugerville (Texas) Hendrickson's P.J. Mbanasor. A long list of suitors, but it still feels like the Sooners have the inside track on everybody else in this race. OU was the second school to offer and has made a huge impression on him. It wouldn't hurt if he got meet former OU star Derrick Strait, either, since Mbanasor wears No. 2 in Strait's honor.

Next in line: Gilmer (Texas) High's Kris Boyd. OU is solidly in his top four at the moment, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Gilmer visited Norman for OU's first junior day, and the OU coaches have already made a stop to Gilmer during this evaluation period to let him know he's a top priority. The question is going to be if OU runs out of spots by the time Boyd is ready to make his call. In the last week, Texas A&M, LSU and Alabama have all offered.

San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills' Dechaun Holiday. The question here is one we've seen pop up numerous times. When trying to take a kid far away from home, how much of an impact can you make before a visit is necessary? No question Holiday likes OU, but also he hasn't even been close to setting up a visit. Time will tell on this one.

On the radar: Ykili Ross and Iman Marshall. Lumping both of these guys together because they're both talking nicely about OU with nothing set yet in regards to a visit. OU is now a player for Cali kids because of the recent success, but it's still too early to say OU has a great shot at either one of them.
