Whitfield to Attend June Camp

Arkansas target McKinley Whitfield, from Spiro, Okla., has been offered by several schools at many different positions. The Razorbacks are looking at him as a safety.

Arkansas safety target McKinley Whitfield is a man of many trades.

The Spiro (Okla.) High prospect has collected several scholarship offers at several different positions.

Most recently, Louisiana-Monroe offered Whitfield as a quarterback, while Minnesota offered him as an outside linebacker.

"I'm trying to work on everything," Whitfield said. "Most of the schools are looking for a free safety. Most schools looking at me on offense are DII."

Arkansas is one of the several schools considering Whitfield as a safety.

While the Razorbacks have not offered him, Whitfield will be in Fayetteville for a camp on June 19.

"I really just want to get out there and show Arkansas what I can do," Whitfield said. "I don't know if they know what I can do. I want to come out and compete hard."

It won't be the only camp he will attend this summer. He'll be at Oklahoma Friday and at an Oklahoma State camp in July.

Whitfield said he also hopes to take a couple unofficial visits this summer, although none are planned.

Until then, he will continue going to early morning workouts and 7-on-7 with Spiro High.

"I'm working on getting stronger and improving my footwork," Whitfield said. "I also want to work on my backpedalling and turning my hips."
