Busy Haughton Set for Visit To Arkansas

Arkansas will get a visit on Friday from Waco, Texas, Midway safety Kahlil Haughton (6-2, 175), a three-star safety that has 19 offers and someone who is the middle of visiting four schools in seven days.

It's going to be a busy next seven days for Texas prep safety Kahlil Haughton, but it also could go along way on where he spends his college career.

Waco Midway star Haughton (6-2, 175) was at Oklahoma on Saturday, will be at Baylor on Sunday and Texas Tech on Monday and then will arrive to visit Arkansas on Friday.

Haughton, who had 87 tackles and two interceptions last season - suffered a wrist injury on April 28th - the first day of spring practice - so he won't be able to participate in camps at those stops.

"It will be my first trip to Arkansas and I am looking forward to it," Haughton said. "Coach Clay Jennings has told me a lot about Arkansas and where they are headed and he's excited to get me up there and show off their great facilities and what their program is all about.

"Also there's a guy up there from here – Will Hines – and he has great things to say about the coaches and the program," Haughton added.

Jennings, who is in his first year at Arkansas as defensive backs coach, had also been recruiting Haughton when the coach was at TCU.

"He is a great guy and a great coach and we have developed a great relationship," Haughton said. "My family and I have a great feeling about him and I know he would be there for me at Arkansas should I end up there.

"There's also a chance for early playing time at Arkansas and that's something that really works in its favor with me," Haughton added. "It's also big that they are in the SEC."

Haughton narrowed his list of 19 offers down to 10 two weeks ago with the aforementioned schools joining LSU, Duke, Michigan, Ohio State, Louisville and Penn State on the list.

"I haven't really narrowed it down any more than that," Haughton said. "That is one reason I wanted to take these trips and get to see some places that I haven't.

"I'll probably narrow it down in July and I would like to have a decision made before our season starts," Haughton added. "But really I am just going to decide when I am sure and comfortable with what I am feeling."

Haughton feels like he can play in any system.

"I think one of my strengths is that I am good in coverage in both man-to-man and zone schemes," Haughton said. "I know coaches like my height as well and I feel like I have a great knowledge of the game. I also feel like I have great hips and good change of direction."

He is anxious to get back out and working on the practice field.

"I'm suppose to be cleared in about two weeks and I really looking forward to it," Haughton said. "It's disappointing, but something you just have to deal with and move on."
