While the sooner coaching staff is busy preparing for their upcoming game against North Carolina, the Sooner athletic department was busy with a project of their own.
Oklahoma has come to terms to play the University of South Florida Bulls next season. The Bulls, who are a Division I-A independent in football, will visit Owen Field on September 28, 2002.
While many may think that this announcement is somewhat of a surprise, South Florida's athletic director is former Oklahoma All-American Lee Roy Selmon.
The Sooners other 2002 non-conference games include contests against Tulsa, UTEP, and the much-anticipated match-up against Alabama.
In it's current state, the 2002 schedule is as follows:
