Ryan Newsome is a 5-foot9, 170-pound play making wide receiver. What he lacks in size he more than makes up for in natural ability. Newsome has offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Texas and Baylor to name a small few.
"I am blessed to be in a position that I am in," Newsome said. "To be wanted by many of the top tier programs across the country is an honor, but humbling all at the same time."
One look at Newsome on tape, and it becomes very clear why so many big time programs are looking in his direction.
"I think it's a combination of my speed," Newsome said. "The ability to make people miss at difficult times, my catching ability and overall athleticism that made a lot of schools come after me as well as my character."
Texas is one of many schools fighting to land Ryan Newsome. He has a strong relationship with the staff, and it's continuing to build.
"My overall feelings about Texas are great," Newsome said. "I love the genuine part of each and every one of the coaches; they have no egos. They all truly share one common goal as far as each on the team and the team as a whole. Coach [Charlie] Strong is not only a great coach but a necessary father figure for his players."
As far as recruiting goes, Newsome is in it for the long haul.
"Every team in my top five shows me the same amount of love, which is a whole lot," Newsome said laughing. "My final decision will ultimately be made when the time is right. Don't know exactly when that is, but sometime after the season, if not, no one will know when its coming, will just kind of happen."
