Greater Houston Notebook (8/6/14) has had lots of activity in the Midlands region. Today, we look at a few recruiting notes from athletes in the Greater Houston area from last week and the early portions of this current week.

Newest OU Commit
That would be the first words of Clear Falls wide receiver John Humphrey, who committed to Oklahoma over the weekend. The one-time playmaker was once in with Baylor, but decided to open things up within a couple months. Now it looks as though he is right where he wants to be.

“When I arrived at the Oklahoma campus, I felt like I belonged there and a part of something special,” Humphrey said. “I feel 100 percent confident in my decision.”

Donelly Wants to Explore
This off season and summer, Cy Fair defensive tackle Ross Donelly made a few trips to SEC and Pac-12 programs despite being the first verbal commitment to Rice. Now, that decision is behind him and he looks to check in on some of the new interest he has been receiving as of late.

Via twitter: @Rossino_90: I'd like to thank Rice for the opportunity that they’ve given me, but I’ve decided to open up my recruitment!

Not long before this tweet, Donnelly was offered by Stanford after an unofficial visit. Most recently, he also was offered by Kansas State.
