Ford flips to Sooners

OU gets back on the right track on the trail with addition of three-star OL Cody Ford.

Oklahoma was going to get an offensive lineman to commit one way or another. In the past 72 hours, it felt like the Sooners had a great chance at two only to not come up with either.

OU got another one, just took a little longer. Pineville (La.) High offensive guard Cody Ford confirmed he has flipped his commitment from TCU to OU on Monday afternoon.

Ford is OU’s 10th pledge for the Class of 2015 and third offensive lineman.

Ford committed to TCU in January, but after getting the offer from OU in June, it became clear that a potential flip was in the cards. Mississippi State was also in the running, and Ford camped at LSU hoping to receive an offer from the Tigers.

So far that offer hasn’t come, but his relationship with the OU coaches has only gotten better and better in recent weeks.

Ford, who is 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, is a three-star offensive guard according to Scout although there is some speculation he might be another right tackle in the making for the Sooners.

Some have definitely seen it coming and Ford’s changing of his Twitter avatar and accompanying photo definitely gave OU reasons to smile Monday. It went from him being dressed in purple and talking TCU to being in an OU jersey with a crimson and cream background.

Ford is OU’s second commit from Louisiana and joins Allen (Texas) High’s Bobby Evans and Lancaster (Texas) High’s Dominique Hearne as the other offensive linemen commits.
