The Sooners will be welcoming back former coaches and players for the fourth annual Sooner Basketball Family Weekend even this Friday and Saturday.
Oklahoma is honoring its 1,000-point scorers at Friday evening’s Wayman Tisdale Scholarship Fund Dinner on the Lloyd Noble Center main floor. Other activities include Saturday’s Legends Alumni Game at noon, which was attended by 3,500 people last year.
"Our staff and players are really looking forward to what has become one of the highlights of our offseason each year," Kruger said in a statement released by the university. "This year we honor the 40 former players who scored at least 1,000 points during their OU careers. It's going to be great having them back on campus, as well as all the other former players and coaches who helped make our program what it is today. It's fun for everyone to reconnect with each other and to interact with our great fans."
NBA star Blake Griffin is not scheduled to appear during the weekend, however, he wasn’t scheduled last year and played in the game.
There will also be a Tip In Club Golf Classic held at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club, which costs $200 per individual. Space for the event is limited. Friday's dinner costs $50 per person. To register for either event, or to be a sponsor, call the OU Men's Basketball Office at (405) 325-4732.
Former players will be available for autographs after the Alumni Game on Saturday. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to be photographed with current and former OU basketball players for the annual team schedule poster.
Members of OU's 1,000-point club expected to attend this year's event include: Chucky Barnett, Al Beal, Corey Brewer, Cary Carrabine, Tony Crocker, Aaron Curry, Cade Davis, Nate Erdmann, Terry Evans, Garfield Heard, Aaron Jack (representing his father, the late Bobby Jack), David Johnson, Choo Kennedy, Joe King, Stacey King, David Little, Scott Martin, Tim McCalister, John McCullough, Aaron McGhee, Brent Price, Hollis Price, Terry Stotts, Regina Tisdale (representing her late husband, Wayman Tisdale), Jan Warner (representing former husband Les Lane), Jeff Webster and Raymond Whitley.
