OU 2016 offers: Defensive back

Mike Stoops always finds gems in the secondary. Here could be a couple of them for 2016.

The Class of 2015 is halfway there for Oklahoma, but it’s never too early to start dissecting what the Sooners are up to for 2016.

Here is a list of OU’s offers at every position and one name to watch. The name to watch isn’t necessarily the most likely to commit but just a name to keep on your radar going forward.

Metairie (La.) Rummel’s Kristian Fulton (6-0, 165, No. 1 CB)

Sachse (Texas) High’s Jared Mayden (6-0, 190, No. 3)

Waco (Texas) High’s Eric Cuffee (6-0, 190, No. 16)

Nacogdoches (Texas) High’s Brandon Jones (6-0, 190, No. 1 safety)

One to watch: Mayden. The Sooners easily made his top 10 list two weeks ago, and there’s no doubt OU should make any subsequent list going forward. Mike Stoops always finds a way to be in the conversation with some of the best around, and it’s tough to envision OU not putting in the work to stay in the good graces with Mayden, who is an OU legacy. What will be worth watching is if OU’s work with Mayden translates to success with Mayden’s teammate, Devin Duvernay, expected to be among the top receivers in the class.

OKPreps to watch: Oklahoma City Casady’s Max Wariboko. Nobody has more to prove on the field in the state this year. And nobody is more excited about the opportunity to show what he can do. Wariboko, despite playing on JV for part of last season, earned offers from Louisville, Tulsa and UCLA during the spring. The summer was rather quiet and now will be his chance to tell off all critics who believe he only has offers because those schools want his older brother, Scout 300 offensive lineman Josh Wariboko.
